HOROSCOPE

Daily Horoscopes & Transit Guides

The sky speaks. Learn its language.

Most horoscopes are written for a sign, not a person. Twelve forecasts, twelve signs, one reading shared between every Aries who ever drew breath. The Horoscope in Grimoire works differently: it reads the current movement of the planets against the chart cast specifically at your birth, surfacing the transits, retrogrades, and planetary hours that are actually moving through your chart today.

Your daily horoscope reads against your full natal chart, not against your sun sign alone. Each morning's screen carries the sign archetype (e.g. Taurus, the Cultivator), its element/modality/ruling planet pills, three theme keywords, a Cosmic Weather band of live planetary placements, the day's prose reading, four Areas of Life cards (General, Love, Magic, Wellness), and the day's correspondences: color, herb, day of the week.

Your birth data, entered once in Discovery, feeds the planetary hour and moon-sign data into the Daily Pulse, where the same celestial weather lands as part of your morning practice. For a fuller picture of your magical nature, the Astrology Tower sits alongside your numerology profile and witch path in the Soul Portrait. Different lenses on the same person.

What's Inside

Daily Horoscope

Each morning's screen carries your sign's archetype name, its element, modality and ruling planet, three theme keywords, today's prose reading, and four Areas of Life: General, Love, Magic, Wellness. Not personality content, planetary weather for the day's practice.

Natal Transits

Enter your birth data once and Grimoire tracks how the current sky interacts with your natal chart: conjunctions, oppositions, and transiting planets through your houses.

Planetary Hours

The ancient Chaldean system of planetary hours, calculated for your local time. Know which planet governs the current hour, and plan your workings around it.

Cosmic Weather

A live band of pills at the top of each daily horoscope showing the current moon phase and sign, the sun's placement, and the day's notable transits. The day's planetary correspondences (color, herb, day-rulership) sit alongside.

Retrograde Tracker

Know which planets are currently retrograde, when each station began, and when direct motion returns. Plan major workings around the planetary calendar.

Astrology Codex

A reference grammar of the sky inside the Tower: every sign, every planet, every house, every aspect, with the kind of plain-language definitions a working witch can actually use. Read on its own or open from any chart placement.

Baby Witch Path

Brand new to astrology? The Tower's Begin section is a six-step gentle on-ramp: enough to read any chart by the end. No prerequisites and no jargon, with the option to skip into the rest of the Tower at any point.

Definition

What is the Horoscope feature?

I have used astrology as a timing system for workings for longer than I have used almost any other tool in my practice. Not as personality content (I have little interest in what it means to be a Scorpio in the abstract) but as a practical map of when to act and when to wait. The natal chart tells you the shape of your nature. The transits tell you what the sky is doing to that shape right now. The two together are genuinely useful.

The Horoscope feature in Grimoire is built from that premise. Your birth data, entered once, drives everything: the daily horoscope is calculated against your specific chart rather than your sun sign alone. The planetary hours are calculated for your location. The retrograde tracker shows what is currently affecting your chart. The Astrology Codex inside the Tower gives you the reference grammar to read what you are seeing: signs, planets, houses, and aspects in plain language. And the Baby Witch Path offers a six-step on-ramp for practitioners who are new to the discipline and want to learn to read their own chart.

The Planets

What do the planets govern?

Each of the ten planets in the modern astrological system governs a distinct domain of life and brings a distinct quality to its transits. The table below summarises what each planet rules and what its transit through your chart tends to signal.

PlanetGlyphGovernsTransit signals
SunIdentity, vitality, egoRecognition, visibility, your core self in motion
MoonEmotion, instinct, the inner lifeMood shifts, intuitive openings, the body's wisdom
MercuryCommunication, intellect, travelConversations, contracts, ideas in flight
VenusLove, beauty, valueAttraction, harmony, what you draw toward you
MarsAction, drive, conflictInitiative, friction, where you push

Connections

How does astrology connect to the rest of Grimoire?

The natal chart is the most connected piece of data in Grimoire. Enter it once and it travels with you through the rest of the app. The Daily Pulse surfaces the current planetary hour and moon sign as part of your morning orientation, calculated against your location and the current sky. The Sacred Calendar lays the wheel of the year against your active transits. Your Soul Portrait holds the chart alongside your numerology profile, witch path, and patron deities: the four tools that together build a picture of your magical nature.

The practical consequence is that you cast the chart once and it is done. There is no re-entering your details as the sky moves. Grimoire recalculates against your chart automatically every day.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions.

What is the Horoscope feature in Grimoire?

The Horoscope in Grimoire is a personalised astrology dashboard built around your natal chart rather than your sun sign. Enter your birth date, time, and place once, and Grimoire uses that data to drive your daily horoscope, active transit tracking, planetary hour calculations, and retrograde alerts: all specific to your chart. It sits inside the Astrology Tower alongside a natal chart builder, an Astrology Codex, and a Baby Witch Path for practitioners new to reading charts.

How is this different from a generic sun-sign horoscope?

Generic sun-sign horoscopes treat all twelve signs identically: every Aries reads the same forecast. Grimoire's horoscope is calculated against your full natal chart, including your moon, rising sign, and the placement of every planet at your birth. The result is celestial weather as it actually relates to your specific chart, not a one-size-fits-twelve summary.

What birth data do I need to use the Horoscope?

You need your date of birth, time of birth (as accurate as possible), and place of birth. The time and location are what make a chart specific to you; without them, the calculation falls back to a sun-sign-only reading. If you don't know your exact birth time, the chart will still calculate, but the houses and the rising sign will be unreliable.

What is a planetary transit?

A planetary transit is the movement of a planet through the sky relative to the position it held at your birth. When transiting Saturn forms a conjunction with your natal sun, for example, that is a transit, and it tends to mark periods of structural change, responsibility, or maturation. Grimoire tracks these alignments daily and surfaces the ones currently active in your chart.

What are planetary hours and how are they used in witchcraft?

Planetary hours are an ancient system, drawn from the Chaldean tradition, in which each hour of the day and night is governed by one of the seven classical planets: Saturn, Jupiter, Mars, Sun, Venus, Mercury, or Moon. Witches use them to time workings according to planetary correspondences: an hour of Venus for love work, an hour of Mars for protection or banishing, an hour of Mercury for communication or travel. Grimoire calculates the current planetary hour for your local time.

What does it mean when a planet is in retrograde?

A retrograde is an apparent reversal in a planet's path through the zodiac as seen from Earth. It is an optical effect rather than a literal reversal, but in astrological practice it carries weight. Retrogrades are traditionally read as periods to revisit, review, and refine rather than to initiate. Mercury retrograde is the most well-known, but every planet retrogrades at some point in its cycle. Grimoire's retrograde tracker shows what is currently moving backwards and when each station resolves.

How does the Horoscope connect to the rest of Grimoire?

Your natal chart is saved to your Soul Portrait, where it sits alongside your numerology profile, witch path, and patron deities. The current planetary hour and moon sign also surface in your Daily Pulse each morning, so you can plan your practice around the day's astrological weather without checking the chart separately.
