The Astrology Library
Astrology.
Natal charts, transits, and the practice of reading the sky as a spiritual record.
Astrology is one of the oldest tools in the witch’s reference library, and one of the most often mistaken for fortune-telling. The pieces in this section treat it as a self-knowledge practice and a timing tool, not a forecast. You will find guides to reading your natal chart, working with planetary hours and lunar phases, and using the sky as a frame for understanding cycles in your life and your craft.
Astrology is the study of the relationship between celestial movements and earthly experience. It is one of the oldest symbolic systems in human history: documented in Mesopotamian records dating back over 4,000 years, developed through Hellenistic, Arabic, and Renaissance traditions, and now practised in forms spanning Western tropical astrology, Vedic or Jyotish astrology, and Chinese astrology.
At its core, astrology maps the positions of the Sun, Moon, and planets at specific moments (most commonly at birth) and interprets those positions as a symbolic portrait of character, tendency, and potential. Your birth chart is a snapshot of the sky at the moment you arrived in the world. It does not determine a fixed fate; it describes an energetic signature and the themes you are here to work with.
For witches and spiritual practitioners, astrology is a practical tool as much as a philosophical one. Timing rituals to moon phases and planetary hours, working with retrogrades consciously, and understanding the energetic quality of each astrological season are all ways to bring celestial awareness into an active craft practice.
The posts in this category cover birth chart interpretation, the meaning of placements and transits, how to work with retrogrades, seasonal horoscopes, and the intersection of astrology with witchcraft and pagan tradition.
