The Spells Library
Spells.
Specific working spells from folk and modern witchcraft traditions.
A spell is a structured working that uses materials, intention, and timing to create change. Not a wish: a wish is open-ended, a spell-grade intention is specific enough to track. The pieces in this section gather working spells — sun water, candle workings, jar magic, sachets, charm bags, fire releases — drawn from folk-magic tradition and adapted for modern solitary practice. Where a sabbat shapes a working, the seasonal context is given; where folkloric sources exist, they are cited. The work is always in the specificity, not the lineage.
A spell is a structured working that uses physical materials, intention, and timing to create change in the practitioner's life or environment. The materials matter. The timing matters. The intention has to be specific enough to track — not a wish, but a precise statement of what is being grown, released, or carried.
The pieces in this section gather specific working spells from folk-magic tradition and modern solitary practice. Some are seasonal, written for the sabbats and the energies they carry. Others are portable workings — sachets, charm bags, sun water, written intentions — that travel through ordinary life. Each post sets out the materials, the timing, and the working in step-by-step form, so the spells can be performed without elaborate apparatus and without prior training.
The traditions covered include European folk magic (the bonfire releases of midsummer, the herb girdles of Litha, the protective sachets of solstice), cunning-folk practice (charm bags, written charms, candle workings), and modern adaptations of older techniques. Where folkloric sources exist, they are cited. Where modern practice has departed from tradition, the difference is named.
Working safely matters, especially with fire and herbs. Where a spell calls for either, the practical safety considerations are written into the post itself rather than relegated to a footnote. The aesthetic of magic should never override the safety practice that keeps the working from harming the witch.
